What Jamaica requires

Jamaica requires it plainly. Under the Early Childhood Act and Regulations of 2005 and the Early Childhood Commission's operating standards, operators and practitioners at early-childhood institutions must be trained in paediatric first aid. This is a condition of running a compliant nursery, not a suggestion — the people caring for young children are expected to be certified to help them in an emergency.

Anaphylaxis and medication administration

The Early Childhood Commission's standards set a clear medication regime: written parental consent and a physician's record for any prescribed medicine, strict adherence to the parents' written allergy and medication instructions, a signed medication log, and storage of all medicines in a locked cupboard out of children's reach. For a child at risk of anaphylaxis, that framework means the prescribed device is documented, consented to and kept safely on site — ready to use the moment it is needed.
